9.1 codec on WMP11

Windows / Media player 11

Specs: Windows XP
I have some audio files that were encoded using the 9.1 codec with WMP 9 and they are trying to select the 9.1 codec specifically and are not playing in WMP11

Does anyone know how to re-register the 9.1 codec in WMP11?

Dirty Tarry, SWAG, sounds to me like you need to change their association. Can you select the file(s) in question? If so, RIGHTCLICK on one and 'open using', select what you want.
If the filenames all have the same suffix (.xxx) and it's different from the others you can check the 'always use' box. Otherwise you may need to deal with each separately.

Hi Ed, I wish it was that easy. The files are being streamed from a third party website and therefore we cannot select the files individually to change the association. I also cannot download the files from this site, only play them through a WMP plugin.

I have the K-Lite pack installed on the system that is up to date so all codecs should be alright, its just 9.1...

Dirty Tarry, thought (gas pain?). Possible you could 'save' the streaming files without opening and open them with your preference later?
