I got an upgrade earlier today, from 512MB of RAM to 1Gig. Yeah it was worth it. I'll be buying a whole new system in a month or two anyway, should be 'killer'.
Anyway, whilst getting it upgraded, the guy - an elite hacker, computer genius dude person thing - told me that I have a '64 pin' processor, and if I updated my Windows XP to 64 bit then games and software would run extremely faster.
So I said "OK Great, I'll do that then". I didn't think of asking "How?". So here I am, asking, How?
He also said that I'd need to update games so that they're ready to work with 64 bit - or something or other.
Help on this is greatly appreciated. I'd love some links/references to where I can update, if possible.
Cookies taste good, so do HTML tags.

Buying a 64 bit version of windows. And then go to each website and download updates to run with the games.

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

I wouldn't take too much stock in your friend being a computer genius if he is calling it a 64 pin processor.

And I'm not sure that a 64 bit CPU and OS are going to run 32 bit games any faster.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Not to mention the fact that a 64 bit processor does not handle 32 bit applications well. You may be sorry if you make that move.
In my opinion it is far to early to make the jump to 64 bit. Not enough 64 bit applications yet and being as 64 bit does not run 32 bit well, it is not a good mix.
