Hello, is my question that so much performance or if it is notorious the difference as for increasing the speed of the computer when having 512 mb ram you increases to 1024 mb ram, if it is very notorious the performance if it increases the speed a little? is it worthwhile to increase the ram memory?
This is related to memory DDR PC2100
Thank you.

you could get a little boost. maybe 3-5%. 1024 would be nice in the fact that you can turn off the page file and not have to use the hdd for virtual memory. even with 512 you can do that. me i would not bother but depends on what you do too.

You are entering an area of opinion on this one, "Technically" increasing ram will close to always increase processing/ram access speed. As for actually noticing a difference, its alot like an ockward staircase. At the bottom the stairs are really big and until you get about 1/2 way up, you notice a tremendous difference. Once at the 1/2 way point however, the steps become smaller and smaller and even doubleing the ram will only increase performance about 1/3 of what the first half did. Make sense? It will help you speed, but not so noticeable that i would rush out and buy a 512mb ddr stick unless i got a huge deal on it! I've learned this from much benchmarking and experience...

Hi ALfonso

THe advantage of an additional 512Mb can only be determined by the work you are doing.

If you were to run XP, Office XP [excel/ word/ outlook], IE 6 x 3 windows plus some antivirus. The system would not be wanting any more than your current 512Mb.

If you have an Oracle Database Server with large file, then YES there would be a benefit.

Only get a trailer as big as the load you need to carry! More is wasted.
