I am having trouble getting my cambridge sound works / creative 5.1 surround sound speakers to work with Win XP Pro. I have sound on the 2 front speakers but no sound on the rest. I am using a soundblaster Live! sound card. I have my speakers settings set to "5.1 surround sound" in the control panel.. any suggestions?? Thanks!

I have the same setup as you and am experiencing the exact same problem. What actually controls this? Is it the drivers that are causing the problem? Does anyone have any ideas?

For winamp, go to the settings then pick the Directsound output plugin and you should now get sound out of all speakers.

If you right click on the speaker on the taskbar then click on properties go to advanced in the speaker settings box it will give you a option on which speakers to use

If you have liveware, find the reg files that setup speakers (Audio\Common\Cfgset\Speaker\Value) if you get them from the windows temp folder. and run the 4 speaker reg file. Unfortunately this is only a temp fix because after restart it'll only work with the 2 front speakers again.
I have set my computer to run regedit /s "regfile.reg" at startup to always make sure the 4 speakers are enabled.

The weird thing is this only happened after my recent installation of windows xp; last time I installed Windows xp it worked fine!
