My new DEll laptop inspiron 8500 has a 4 pins firewire port. I use an adaptor to 6 pins port so I can plug in the orangemicro iBot pro fire wire web cam. It wasn't working and I have all the latest drivers and direct x. I think the fire wire port has no power supply is the problem. Will you help me with this. Thank you.

Tiger-sea.

Have you check in device manager to be sure there is no problem and that it's enabled?

I've also read somewhere that the adaptors don't work well. I would get a four-pin cable.
