I Recently purchased a AMD 3200+ Barton and for some unknown reason it says it is running at 1700+ does anyone have a clue why? Its Running very slowly. i think i may have been sold a duff one.

did you correctly reset the FSB jumpers to the correct speed. It is more than likely underclocked.
also there is a news report that just came out about remarked AMD stolen CPUs. While it stated that most were in Europe/Asia and had not gotten here(US) as of yet, they were all OEM versions that were defected,stolen from warehouse and cleaned/remarked to show higher ratings than what should be.

When you install a processor, assuming you made sure your motherboards supports that speed, you may have to adjust the FSB on the motherboard itself.

Usually it is done by jumpers on the board.
Consult your mb manual.

Usually there are 3 settings 100/133/200 and will ship with the jumper on a default setting.

As soon as the jumper is set correctly it will read the correct speed in the bios.

Remember that hardware overides software bios settings.
