Yes you can put a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit machine. Virtually all modern processors are 64 bit.

As fo' identifyin' whut OS ya' is runnin', it ain't nearly dat hard at all. Aldough, de chances uh ya' runnin' some 64-bit version uh Windows be likesly real slim-to-none if ya' gots'ta ax'.
