Clean out the registry and optimise (defrag) it. You probably have a day's work of useless entries in it which take up time. I do mine weekly and I load in about 11 seconds flat. Try "Regseeker" or "Ace Utilities". To optimise try "Registry Optimiser".

Thanks. I'll try that but I think it might have to do with something else. It has been that way since I've had the computer (1 month). Every boot the blank screen stays on for EXACTLY 30 seconds. No more, no less. Actually, the one time it did not stay on for 30 seconds was when I went into setup. I spent a couple of minutes in setup and then exit. After that the blank screen only flashed for a second. Next reboot back to 30 seconds. I'll try the registry cleaning though

Some MBs have a setting in the BIOS for a delay,, possibly related to hard drive detection. You might check this possibility out. I believe it's enabled by default,, have you cleared your BIOS to defaults lately?

Search the internet for a MS utility called "bootvis" and run it. It may be hard to find because Microsoft stopped posting it on their site but others have it...it will speed up your boot time.

None of that worked but I did find the problem. I happen to come across the answer in another post by someone looking for a softare update for an HP. It linked to the HP site which I d/l a Firmware updare for my cd-rom which fixed a 40 sec delay at start up. Thanks for all of your replys and help guys!!!!
