Computer Stats
Win XP Home Edition
HP 2.4 GHz
512 Mb RAM
128 Mb Video RAM
IE6 SP2All of a sudden it takes 3 minutes to open any of the following programs with my computer plugged into the cable internet connection.
Windows Explorer
Control Panel
Recycle Bin
Internet Explorer – could be others
Once the program is open it seems to function correctly, except for the internet explorer which will eventually hang while trying to drill down at a web site. It will hang for about 3 minutes then release, but will not open the designated page.If I then close my internet explorer it will not release IEXPLORE.exe from the task manager. If I re-open internet explorer it will open a new IEXPLORE.exe file. I will then have two open in the task manager. I can continue to do this and it will keep opening new files.
E-mail works fine other than I cannot open a web page from e-mail.
I have three computers connected to cable via a Linksys router. I have no problems with the other two computers. I have changed connections with the Linksys to no avail.
If I boot my computer without the cable internet connection plugged in, all of my desktop applications function correctly. (Windows Explorer, Control Panel, Recycle Bin) No waiting!!!! Of course Internet Explorer is not connected.
I have all the latest Windows updates.
Everything works correctly in safemodeI have run two virus scan programs, Trojan remover and Spybot. No problems!!!!
Can someone help me??

Anything showing in the Event Viewer log files? Also, try adjusting and resaving the Internet Explorer connection settings (under the Tools menu).
Maybe double-check the network settings for the LAN...
