ATTACH THE BACKUP DRIVE TO THE SAME RIBBON CABLE AS THE MASTER DRIVE, SET THE JUMPER ON THE BACKUP DRIVE TO 'SLAVE'
make sure the red edge of the ribbon cable is lined up next to the power cable to the drive. look at the master drive's connection if needed.
boot up into windows, and it should appear in my computer.
right click the icon of the backup drive, and format it there, so you can store the data on it

I wonder if this has been done?

just make sure you have a spare IDE cable, people will tell you it has to be on a certian cable but unless you are running an ultra fast system you will never notice the difference.

make sure you have F-disk on a floppy boot to the floppy and select your new drive you are partition it (make it 2 additional drives) you do that by creating a primary dos partition and then an extended dos partition (make sure when it asks you to assign the size you choose the right ammount like a 40gb hdd 20000 to each partition)

Now format the drives you will need to select them but they will be labeled in order c:\ d:\ e:\.
Once done then boot to windows where the drives will be available for use, you can use a quick format, and robert is very much your mother's brother :)

I hope this helps or maybe someone else if you have already done it.

I have a suspicion you will need to tell your BIOS you have added a second drive. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer you need to get into the BIOS,(hit "del" ? or some key) when booting, go to IDE, select automatic & follow the prompts. Easier than it sounds.
Cheers,
bob Mitchell.
