Memory problems can show up as disk errors. http://memtest86.com/ There is a version to create a bootable floppy diskette and/or an ISO for creating a CD. Run it overnight and any failures are unacceptable.

What is the exact error message? Have you tried uninstalling SP3 to see if the problem is still there? Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
