2 processors show in Dev. Manager

I have an Asus P4P 800 Deluxe MOBO, P4 3.0 with 1Gb PC3200 DDR ram. In Device Manager it shows I have an ACPI MultiProcessor PC and further down it lists 2 processors but I only have 1. MSINFO32 also lists 2 3.0 processors. There are no question marks or asterisks showing but what causes the multi processor entries? The machine runs fine, this is only to answer about these curious listings. Thanks for your help.

Seeing that the P4 3.0 Ghz. is HT (hyperthreading) enabled, your computer will list it as two processors. There are no problems assoc. with two listings.

Just to clear up a common misconception but multiple processors do not make your pc run faster. That's like saying a 6 lane hwy at 55mph is faster then a 4 lane hwy at 55mph.
A program has to be written to use hyperthreading to take advantage of it. In other words your single processor program isn't going to run better on a hyperthreaded processor.
