Hey guys. I am seriously pulling my hair out over this computer crisis I have! Last night when I was playing a certain game, my pc suddenly gave out and this blue screen appeared telling me to restart the computer. So I decided to do so manually, but when I restarted my computer it suddenly didn't start anymore... The two errors that I get alternately are "Error 0232: Extended RAM failed at offset:1C" and another one telling me "System32\DRIVERS\pci.sys" is missing.
But the problem is that I don't have the XP Cdrom to replace the broken files... I called for support from the manufacturer of my pc, but they told me that the only way for me to "repair" my computer is through data recovery. But unfortunately, I didn't take backups and there's a lot that I don't want to loose :(. Is there any way to fix these errors? If not, I'm willing to use KNOPPIX to get backups, but will it work given my circumstances? I looked around EVERYWHERE but couldn't find an answer... Thanks.

hey srslyscrewed,
the 0232 error is usually due to an incompatible or corrupted memory module. Depending on how the system is configured, you could try to remove one of the memory modules and see if the system will boot up. the pci.sys problem could also be linked to this so i suggest you try removing or swapping the memory modules.
