2 Drives - both with WinXP on C:

Comment:
I have 2 hard drives. One is already installed with WinXP on it. Installed as C:
The other has already been installed on the same system and it was installed as C: also. The problem is I need to hook up the other hard drive and boot to the existing one. However the boot sequence is getting confused and I get a missing hal.dll at boot. Either of these drives will boot together but not seperatley. I'm trying to avoid reloading XP on one to create a correct boot sequence. Is there a way? A Boot disk, boot.ini, etc? It's rather a temp change but I need access to both drives in XP on the current drive installed. Again, they both have C: as their system directory. Please help, I hope I've been descriptive enough. Thank you.

I meant to say
Either of these drives will boot seperatley but not together (or connected at the same time)
Any ideas on how to make this work? Thanks

Make sure 1 drive is set as master and the other is set to slave (set by jumpers) this should seperate your hard disks to C:\ and D:\ or maybe C:\ and E:\ depending on if you have a CD-ROm installed. Look in your Bios for boot sequence, you should see something like floppy disk first then CD-Rom then hard disk etc as boot up sequence. You can disable anything after the first hard disk boot. Hope this helps any-----Bob
