I had a problem connecting my ipod to my pc, that it is showing the drive but cant format and open when i click on the drive and getting a error "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Does it work if it's not connected to the computer? As far as I know, you can't format your iPod from within Windows, but I could be wrong on that.
