Comment: just installed zone alarms anti-virus. pc has drastically slowed. when i press alt+ctrl+del and go to windows task manager i see that cpu is at 100% usage. in the list of running processes are 2 entries for "scanning processes...." used by the system and both list the same memory usage of 42,872k. when i tried to stop the process, message box says denied. any idea why i'm seeing 2 identical entries and what are they and how do i eliminate one of them? thanks for your time.

Reply: (edit)This must be new ufcked up version of ZA. What it does is it simply scans your email for potential email-based trojans/viruses. Disable Mail scan from the tab. Also, ZA connects to some wierd website which has no description on ZA website or forum. Also, during boot up ZA downloads updates which could take between 5 15 minutes before oyur computer runs normal. Try Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall for firwall -- it is robust like ZA Pro but is actually free.

Reply: (edit)You can't run allot of newer programs on older computers,And it is (Ctrl+Alt+Del)not alt+ctrl+del ...Try running ZoneAlarm, But an older version, like v.3.7 works real good on my older box. Check here, Old versions.com
