just like to point out that 1.8 GHz does not represent your memory. the things you mentioned like listening on media player etc can be memory consuming, however still it should be ok.

My suggestion is that do ctrl alt delete, go into processes tab and check which file is using the most memory and end that process

This problem has been here before:

I have the same problem with a laptop. The strange thing is that it works fine in safe mode. A Windows rebuild is out the question and the problem continues. I suggest following the tips in the previous post. It seems to have had some success for some people. It seems to be hardware related to some people but then why would it work in safe mode?

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I think the reason it works in safe mode is because in safe mode you dont always have everything functioning as you would in normal mode. So i'm assuming that in safe mode, that process which runs in normal mode doesnt in safe mode.

That is the reson it works in safe mode

In that theory it would just be a case of ending the process. I have tried ending them all and still no luck.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!
