Hi,
When I turn on my PC (and only the first time in the day), not on restart or on shut down and start. I get a very long continues beep after BIOS and before Windows XP startup. Each time I get this long continues beep it seems to be at different lengths each time. When I rebuilt my PC (about 2 months ago) it was fine. It has only started beeping 2 weeks ago.
I have a new Motherboard, CPU (AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.217GHz), CPU Fan, Graphics Card (128MB PCI-Express), Hard Drive (80GB) and a clean install of Windows XP Pro. All the rest of my PC is from my old AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz PC.

Have you tried reseating your ram/cables etc?

Hi,
I forgot to mention that the BIOS post test is completed successfully, I get 1 short beep then when it starts to load Windows XP (just after the last white text on the black background) I get a very long single beep, different lengths on each day, sometimes less than 10 seconds and sometimes more than 30 seconds. It only does it once a day when I turn on my PC after I come home from work. It almost seems like it does it when the machine is cold. If I shut down my PC and then push the button to turn it on again or even just a restart I don't get the very long beep.
Can anybody help. Thank you.

Also, I forgat to mention, the PC loads and runs Windows XP WITHOUT any problems. It's just the annoying long beep at the beginning. Thanks Again.

Hey Dj, My advise is to adjust what your BIOS uses to control your fan speeds. Default is Auto, but you have Voltage control or PWM (pulse width modulation)as settings. If you have system fans pluged into the Motherboard I suggest you turn then off in BIOS as Monitored as they are normally only 3 wire control and lacks the feed back of information to BIOS.
Turn Off system first and try.
Then change CPU fan control but only one at at time to see what makes the change.

Hi MeOnMine,
Sorry for the delay in answering, I've been busy.
Thanks for the response, I will give it a go and I'll post a follow up on this forum. Cheers.

Hi again all, Sorry for the delay. I can't find anything to with fans in my BIOS apart from Smart Fan in which I have disabled and I still get the beeping sound. I have noticed that when I first turn on my PC the CPU fan spins up as normal and then stops, when it stops the long beep starts then when the fan starts back up the beep stops.
