Juzzy B, SWAG, may not be the deal at all. When you put in the second drive, did you switch the jumper to make it a slave? During the boot process, Windows must initiate and detect things and if there are two master drives, things get really confusing and the machine may just stop. Sorta the machine equvalent of wringing hands. HTH. Ed in Texas.

You would also need to check the jumper on the primary drive also. Some can be set to standalone vs master which is what it should be set to if adding a slave.
