when i start my pc it says
"if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:"

disable or uninstall any antivirus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. check your hard drive config. and check for any update drivers. run chkdsk/f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer"

I have tried using the winxp cd and no matter what option i use to try and fix it, it allways takes me back to the same screen. I can get into dos by using a dos - bootdisk but i canNot access my c: drive.
please help
(i think i may need to format)
and yes i have check the windows support site.

the reason you can not access your c: drive from dos is because it is probably NTFS. if you need to format and the xp cd won't do it, boot with the dos boot disk and at the a: prompt type, fdisk. say yes to large disk support, then delete partition. starting with non dos and working your way up (if necessary). then format and reinstall your os.
