I can get into dos by using a dos - bootdisk but i canNot access my c: drive. please help (i think i may need to format) and yes i have check the windows support site.

the reason you can not access your c: drive from dos is because it is probably NTFS. if you need to format and the xp cd won't do it, boot with the dos boot disk and at the a: prompt type, fdisk. say yes to large disk support, then delete partition. starting with non dos and working your way up (if necessary). then format and reinstall your os. hope this helps
