OS: win 2k SP3
CPU/Ram: what
Comment:

Thinking it was a OS issue, I uninstalled winxp and installed win2k for more stability. So,...after beeing glad and proud of that good decision, all the sudden, my Video adapter blew up (it was old), so I plugued in another one and wanted this time around to put the screw but it had none , so I thought I'm gonna borrow the one from the NIC, but it didn't have one either.. so I thought if a network adapter can hold me tight here why should I have a hard attack about that stupid screw for the video card. Soafter rebot, I tried to get on Internet.. nothing.. I thought it must be my stupd ISP again who doesn't appreciate me sharing too many files so I rebooted with ME ( i was dual boot winxp winME) but, getting there it was impossible to get connected.. I was clueles.. I shutted everything off.
Then I thought hmmmm... I opened the case realizing the network card was not sitting in her slot properly.....

Don't mean to flame you here but What does this have to do with XP, and do you have a question?
I have a couple of loose screws laying around. I'll emailem to you if you like.

When you get to my age, any screw can give you a heart attack (whether she's stupid or not).

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Might need to send ecto a satire>legpull conversion program as well as a supply of screws. I don't think he's on the same wavelength. Anyone have a freeware version ? I paid for mine and if I try to share it it threatens I'll never get another hard attack. If that happened I'd have to give up all my screws.

As Brother Louis Travagline would say, He's in a different movie.

But an upgrade from XP to 2k seems like a pretty smooth move.

Haha.

If it makes you feel any better, I spent 10 minutes trying to get an integrated Atheros B/G chip to work on a laptop. I couldn't get any wireless networks to show up until my boss came over and pressed the WLAN button on the case.

One reason I know as much as I do is that I've made every dumb mistake that could be made.

Ten years ago I'd just built a 486-DX50, when that was a very serious rig.

I passworded the BIOS, forgot the PW, and blew it up by jumpering the wrong two pins.

But hey, I got the Spastic of the Year Award.
