i biult a p4 1.6ghz computer and used the standared cooling fan but after 30 min to an hour i get this blue screen ( not the normal win 9x blue screen) for like a sec. then the computer just restarts. i think that it could be over heating but if anyone could give me any suggestions or ideas i would appreciate your input
You may need a second fan put in. That is a powerful machine you have. I haven't seen a blue screen since the Nintendo days where it would happen if you were playing too long. Matter of fact, it was all colors, not just blue!

well if you think it's a overheating problem, find out what the temp is. Although p4's weren't designed to reboot due to overheating....unless you hit the absolute maximum temp...then i think it shuts down. Did you notice a slow down before it happened? P4's slow themselves when they start to overheat

Hmmm I don't think it is overheating problem since you just built it. Assuming that you did not overclock it. If fan is working propery I don't think you will get that problem. Check your BIOS setting and make sure it is all correct.
Why do you build system? Just get a DELL. Kidding

Hi I'm pretty sure that the processor is causing your computer to restart. I had the same problem my self. To check if i'm right go to BIOS(to get there restart your computer and keep pressing DELETE button). Once you are in BIOS go to CPU soft menu (should be there, if not check other menus) and look at EXTERNAL CLOCK SETTINGS, if you have it set to 133 change it to 100. This will reduce the speed of your processor. If your computer will stop restarting keep EXTERNAL CLOCK SETTINGS at 100. If i'm wrong set EXTERNAL CLOCK SETTINGS back to 133. Good luck Oh, and one more thing, in BIOS look at CORE VOLTAGE, it should be no mora than 2V
