I've got a Dell Dimension 8100 and two different printers that I can't get to work, the HP OfficeJet 350 and Canon 6100. I'm having problems that I've read others have had. After the initial installation of the driver, the printer works fine, but after I reboot or shutdown, the printer will no longer print--instead, just adding the print-task to the printer manager and deleting it.
I discovered that when I change the settings of the Printer Port (LP1) in Device Manager, the printer works again until I have to reboot. Can someone please tell me what I need to do. I've tried the WindowsXP drivers and Win2k drivers for the HP. Currently the HP is using WinXP drivers and the Canon is using the downloadable driver from their site.
I've installed the WinXP updates (critical ones) and I've installed the Dell Bios update.

not sure what to say as of yet... but if you want more help E-Mail me at Kury@TurboNet.Com
and tell me what printer settings port settings you changed in the device manager for it to work again..?!?!?

You probably need a BIOS upgrade from Dell. See this article for a little more info about the problem:
