i hav win vista home premium on my hp pavilion which came as factory installed n pnow m not happy with vista i wana install xp pro as a 2nd os dual boot but unable to do so even i wana boot from cd i cant do pls help in the process of doing it

now i m jus done with installing xp on another partition now i hav another prob for booting i m directly taken into windows xp now i dono wha shud i do for gewtting that os choice menu n choosing the os i wana log into
urgent help needed

I guess you do like Vista after all .... LOL

You ended up with this situation, because dual boot OS' normally have to be installed in their order of release. In other words, XP should have been installed before Vista, but you didn't have that opportunity since your machine came to you pre-loaded with Vista. Anyway, see the steps involved in restoring Vista and dual booting from this link. Only follow the instruction from the part that's applicable to you at this point.

Good luck from me too. If it works - great! But if it doesn't, be advised you may have difficulty using HP Vista recovery DVDs to restore your OS to preinstalled factory state. You also may be voiding your warranty.

AFAIK Recovery DVDs will cease to work whenever the partition information is changed.

thanx guys but i m not happy with it so i deleted the xp n now jus vista on my system n it was like difficult for me to get d drivers for xp on my notebook

why didnt you just install XP in a different folder on teh same partition? Normally you will be prompted to select which OS to boot from on startup.
