I need to type a report, and when I try to run Microsoft Works today. I got an error
"The program you selected is missing or corrupte. To fix this problem, please reinstall Microsoft works"
I get this error when I run any other programs in Works as well.
It asks me to reinstall but I didn't get a Works disk to come with my computer. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The programs are ok since I can run Works Word Manager from the start menu, just not in Works. I just want Works to actually work, and find out what the heck happend...really one day its fine now its giving errors...

If this is a problem that just reared its head out the blues, I would suggest you try "system restore" & revert your system state back to an earlier time.

How did you get Works 8.5?
According to HP product specification for Pavilion a6028x, the Productivity software preloaded on the machine consists of Adobe Reader, MS Works 8.0 & MS Office Home & Student Edition 2007 Trial.

30gig on System Restore? The lesson to be learned of course is that regardless of the space taken by System Restore you would have save yourself a lot of grief had you left it enabled.
Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

yes I have learned that lesson well, but it still takes up too much space for my taste.
I don't know why its 8.5, when I clicked on Help>about it says version 8.5
the microsoft support page didn't help (big surprise...) though everytime I turn on my printer, vista goes through the new hardware install thing, even though I installed it already.
Also guys I right clicked Works, went to properties, compatability and checked "run as administrator"
Works runs word fine(with the exception of the prompt to run it at the beginning),when I uncheck the box though, the problem is back. So its only a work-around, I still want to know how my Works...
Vista screws me yet again, Also if it helps, Office Word freezes when I try to run it (I still have a few more days in the trial, and all of the other programs still work)
