wireless weak signal

Specs: Windows XP
Hi Guru's.

My two Xp laptops have no problem getting a good connection to my wireless but my Vista machine continually shows 1-3 bars only. It actually shows all bars for my neighbors wireless. The Dell WLAN utility shows a speed of 130 for my neighbors, 54 for most other nearby and 0-54 for my wireless. Any thoughts??

Can you install a different antenna to your wireless card? Maybe one with a cable to re-orient the position of the antenna?
The alignment of the signal path may be such that the case of the computer(or ?) is blocking your router signal. Do your XP laptops have the same issue when at the same location as the Vista machine?

Bars are relative sometimes. Not a very good indicator.

Yes, they do that because of variations in design, placement, software and location.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
