Comment:

ive recently installed and am running Vista RTM, everything ok more or less.

one of the programs i find hard to live without is winrar, which installs well under vista, runs well (provided i grant UAC admin access which is always required whenever i run winrar)

winrar integrates a tremendously useful right-click menu in windows explorer (eg you rightclick a rar archive and you can choose to extract in the current folder etc.)

trouble is it does not work under vista with UAC enabled (when i right click a file and choose whatever action, nothing happens) so the only option i am left with is open winrar, and perform the desired action from within winrar - all this translates into wasted time, and 4 steps taken instead of a single, simple one

particularly painful with partitioned archived files as well (eg file.r01, file.r02 etc)

i have already checked winrar.exe in the program files to always run with admin privileges, but to no avail (and as mentioned UAC still requires granting access whenever winrar is run, no matter it already runs as admin)

Question: is there any way i can make full use of winrar context (right-click) menu and still have UAC enabled?

10x alot

You should contact win-rar to have them correct their program to comply with the Vista design.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Solution is simple: Download the latest beta (3.70 Beta 2 at the time of writing)

Good luck!
