Windows/System/Drivers/PCI.sys on Vista

Specs: Vista home premium, Ath 4-Core/3GB
I attempted to download Service pack 1 on VHP and after the configurations and restart, my computer would not boot up because of Windows/System/Drivers.sys.PCI is corrupt. Can you please lead me into a resolution for this problem.

... will it start in "safe mode"? tap <F8> <key> @ bootup

... if so click "Start" orb and type "Programs and Features" in the search box. Highlight [press enter]

... locate "View Installed Updates" at the top of this window, highlight it and click "Uninstall" with your mouse.
