Windows Will NOT Boot

Hello,

I have a Compaq Computer and I am facing this problem: when i turn on my computer, the computer freezes at the Compaq logo, however, there are white verticals line all over the screen. NO buttons work, I have tried F8 and many other things but none seem to work. Please tell me what to do!

Any help would be appreciated!

You could try a different monitor if you have one. Also, are you using a video card-if so, what type ?
