Subject: Windows Vista - Improper Shutdown
OS: Windows Vista
CPU/Ram: 2GB
Model/Manufacturer: Dell
Comment:

My son bought a new dell that has Windows Vista. When he turned on the brand new computer, Windows Vista froze. The only way he could get it to shut down was to turn off the power to his surge protector. Now, Windows Vista will not boot up at all. All he sees on his screen is letters and numbers scrolling up the screen and green lights flashing on the monitor.

How do you resolve Improper Shutdown on Windows Vista???

Return the PC to Dell, it is a new PC under warranty!

This is a cardinal mistake. Never ever turn off the power at the power source. You have the power on button - use it.

There is a few thing you could try. Failing that call Dell initiate RTM ticket.

1. Start the PC in Vista Safe Mode.

2. Select Advanced Startup - Repair Your Computer

i had this problem too once. but if your computer have only one hdd then your problem is not the same as mine.. however what i did is i went to bio and change da first boot device hdd which contain the system vista OS.

of cos if yours a new computer i suggest you take it back for them to fix and do not do anythings if u don't know what are you doing.

hope it help you.
