CPU/Ram: ATHLON 64x2 3800 2GIG DDR

windows media player works fine with downloaded files music etc but if i click a mpeg or wma movie (short clip) online nothing happens it does not open it.
i fixed this problem last week of either this site or another site i use but i had to format and cant remember where
btw the file assosiation is ok in default programs

Save yourself some pain and download VLC. It's free and I have yet to find a format it won't play.

just in case someone does a search i have found the answer.

click start
control panal
default programs
set program access and computer defaults
put tick in custom and click dropdown
then put tick in enable access to this program (next to media player)
