Subject: Windows Mail to Outlook ExpressOS: Windows Vista Home PremiuCPU/Ram: Athlon 64 X2 3800, 1GB RA |
Comment: I've been running Windows Vista Home Premium for a couple months now and I'm not enjoying it too much. It's very sluggish, has compatibility problems, and my wife hates the way some things work now. So now I want to go BACK to Windows XP. Anyone know how/if I can re-import the Windows Mail messages and settings back into Outlook Express? Thanks

Reply: (edit)Try this link .. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Wi... Personally I don't believe you could because Outlook Express may not recognize Windows Vista mail contacts file extension. In other words upgrading is moving forward and downgrading backward. Most of us like to think forward as does M$ which is why there is no MSKB available to address this issue. i_Xp/VistaUser

Reply: (edit)Ops I almost forgot this. In M$ quest to move even further they are now pushing Windows Live Mail as replacement for both Outlook Express and Windows Mail. We probably will see it forced down our throat once Vista SP1 rolls in ... and probably XP SP3 too (at this point in time no one really knows how M$ will implement the push). i_Xp/VistaUser

Reply: (edit)I found a roundabout way to do it. I copied the messeges folder from windows mail to the computer with outlook express. Then I opened outlook express and the wm folder and dragged the windows mail messeges one at a time from the folder straight into the messege part of o/e. It worked for me. I did the messeges to, but gotta go do it again so I can remember how. hehhehe Will get back to you..... Hope this helps.. Pwta
