Using Windows Mail with Vista Enterprise. I'm getting the message "Message is no longer available on the server" when I try to view a particular email. In Outlook Express on XP I would rename the inbox.dbx file, restart OE and it would be fixed. Is there a similar procedure in Vista? Thanks.

The reason why you received the error message is because Windows Mail have been replaced by Windows Live Hotmail.

That is perhaps a key clue - is it a newsgroup message?

I wasn't kidding when I said The reason why you received the error message is because Windows Mail will be/have been replaced by Windows Live Hotmail

Quoted from MS Presspass dated May 6, 2007:

More to come. In the coming weeks, M$ will introduce an additional e-mail client option for Windows Live Hotmail with the release of Windows Live Mail beta, a free consumer e-mail client available via download that will be a successor to Outlook Express and Windows Mail on Windows Vista

M$ is now beginning to implement change to Vista built-in e-mail client. Read my thread posted HERE.

I strongly doubt the retrofitting had much if any causal role to play in the problem reported by the OP, I would think the problem had to do with that particular email since it was an isolated case.

Of course it won't help but let's look at the large picture: In Redmond Windows Mail is being abandoned in favor for WL Mail. With this in mind how will the one who knows Mail better than us average users ever write a resolution.
