The other day my girlfriend got a new computer. It's an HP laptop and is one of those models that has a built in webcam and microphone.

When we start up a video call on Windows Live Messenger (both have the latest versions) a rather odd problem is occuring. The video works fine and she can hear me, but I can't hear her. All I get is the occasional buzz or popping sound. I'm thinking that there may be a problem with the built-in mic but I wanted to consult you guys for other potential causes of the problem since I'm not all that familiar with Vista. Anybody got any ideas as to what the problem could be? If more information is required ask and you shall receive.

Nevermind. I figured it out. There's a short in the built-in mic. Thanks anyway.
