Lately every single time I try to open Windows Explorer to go into Control Panel, it keeps telling me that it is not able to open and is restarting itself, but nothing happens. Most of the time I can't get it to open at all (like last night). But, I have no trouble opening "Computer." I did a system restore last night and it worked for the rest of the night. Just a little while ago I tried to open Control Panel and again the same error message.
I don't know what could be causing this out of nowhere. I tried doing some research on the net about this and didn't find anything.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem??
I'd really appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance...

AFAIK, Vista Control Panel User Interface is designed to work from the taskbar Start button, not from within Windows Explorer.

Thanks XpUser...
I was just wondering why if it is not designed to use Windows Explorer (which when I can open it, it doesn't even go into WE), why I am getting an error message that Windows Explorer can't open and is restarting. I go to the Start menu to access CP and that happens...Hmmm...strange.

i have the exact same problem with a vista basic home edition i'm working on. It's message is "windows explorer has stopped working. windows is collecting more information about the problem". then it restarts over and over again repeating the same info. In task manager there is a werFault.exe file that goes to 100% cpu usuage. the explorer.exe file also go up to about 80% which is probably causing the werFault.exe (windows error reporting) to get
to 100%.Can window explorer be reloaded separately from the operating system package files and if so, what version of window explorer .
