i'm trying to get rid of the unnecessary programs on my computer. i'm not really sure what I should do with Windows Defender???
I already have ZoneAlarm Security Suite 2007 running and I have AdAware and Spybot S&D.
Is it necessary for me to also have Windows Defender running? Do these programs conflict at all??
Thanks for the help!

Unless your Vista install was done via an in-place upgrade from XP; you will not have the option to uninstall Defender .... sorry!

Defender is not a firewall & it should not conflict with ZA. As far as conflicting with another anti-spyware tool on the machine, I can tell you from experience that it does not conflict with SpywareTerminator -- the preferred anti-spyware that I have running alongside Defender within Vista.

Turn Windows Defender on or off

You can turn off Windows Defender in Vista if you want to, though I'm not necessarily recomending that you turn it off.

I don't care for Windows Defender, I turn mine off, it's one less resource being taken up. I'm running ZA security suite 7.1. So I really don't need it.
