Will System Restore Help Harddrive Error?

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi people,

Firstly I'd like to thank you for taking your time to help out people with average computer knowledge (like myself) out.

I use my computer very often for work and enjoyment, and have had it since January. For several months it worked well, however, now when playing games on it, the computer will either freeze with a black screen and then continue a minute or so later or in some cases it will just crash altogether. Having googled the error-code, apparently I have a problem with either registry errors or other serious problems with my HDD. Now I don't need to save any of the documents and/or programs installed on my computer and as it happens I had been considering a complete factory restore to improve speed but my question is whether a system restore is likely to solve or help serious hard-drive/regsitry errors?

Thanks a lot,
Ryan

Registry error? Yes.
Hard drive error? No.
Can a failing HDD cause registry errors? Yes.
Could a failing HDD crash a system restore? Yes.

Question: Will System Restore (recovery back to factory state) Help Harddrive Error?

Answer: Yes if it's just the registry. No if the hard drive errors are caused by mechanical failures.

Any reason why you are not stating the error code you used to google?
