I have an HP 520n with a socket 360 Intel Celeron 1.3GHz and 512MB ram. the ram is maxed out and so is the processor. Will it run Vista Basic ok? Just for downloading music and Yahoo messenger and web surfing? I'm in dial up... @ 21.6K.

So do I. BTW stay away from Vista Basic. It's a version that should never have been conceived.

Ideally for Windows Vista you should have a dual-core processor and at least 1GB of RAM. On this system you would be better off sticking with XP as the previous poster said.

Well... I did load vista home basic on it and it run fast... But Vista has no support or drivers for the Intel 810/815 Video chipset. I did get the windows 2000 drivers in but as soon as it loaded it blue screened.
