Solved Windows Could Not Start Because Of An Error in The Software

Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as : load needed DLLs for kernel. Please contact your support person to report this problem.

Hi. I have an eMachines computer which was running Windows Me. I installed Windows XP Home Edition on it from the DVD/CD Rom Drive and now I get the above message. The BIOS is set to boot from the DVD/CD Rom but it does not pick up the DVD/CD Rom on boot up and goes to the above message. The only thing I am able to access right now is the BIOS.

I installed Windows XP yesterday but one RAM was faulty and the system was too slow so I uninstalled Windows XP back to Windows Me and after I fixed the second RAM to run at 128mb I decided to reinstall Windows XP a second time because the Browser on this old computer was out of date and did not function properly in Windows ME and also I could not install my Canon Printer as the system told me to upgrade.

What can be done to get past the above error meassage? I only have access to the BIOS onscreen at boot up and I don’t have my old floppy boot disks anymore on floppy or CD Rom.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

  1. You tried the ME cd and got the same ‘cyclic redundancy check’ error? It could also be bad ram. You mght try running memtest. You can download a bootable CD or floppy image here:

    http://www.memtest.org/

I recommended ver 2.11 for a computer similar to yours in a previous thread.

It could also be the cdrom or hard drive (even though the HD doesn’t show any scandisk errors) but test the ram first.
