1- pre-recorded?
2- did you record them?
3- how old is your laptop?
4- Do they play on other PC's?

Sometimes drives can be fussy about CD's and DVD's.

Try washing the DVD in soapy water (using thumb from centre to outside). Dry thoroughly with kitchen towel.

There are cleaning kits available for the DVD drive lens itself too.

We all live on a ball.
