I am not sure I know what you mean by Wireless fast Wifi. AFAIK ways of connecting to the net include the caveman's dial-up or broadband and this could be Cable, DSL, Satellite or FiOS.

Are you stealing your neighbors WiFi bandwidth or something?

Ha Ha, no I live in a Tailer Park and the Park has a tower that is WiFi, and if you desire you can pay the 25.00 to be able to use your own computer, which I do, or you have the option of using there connection in the club house for free, but mine is in my trailer, its called Tengointernet, it is somehow thru cox cable even though it is wireless, I connect with my usb dlink adapter.

Well, run a speed test and post back with your results and do run the test about three times before you post back.

I do have the downloader installed and in 4 hours it has downloaded 7.51 mb and thats all.......then it stays at that yet it is running, when you click detail on the downloader info sheet it tells me the 7.51 mb of 2.52 GB, says remaining time 110 I suppose hours at this rate? I can down load 24mb from anywhere else (a driver I just downloaded earlier today) it took just min.?

I do not use a firewall because I do not put personal info on the computer, but I do have Windows Firewall on, do you think I need to turn that off?

You should be easily pulling 180KB/s download speed on your connection with the data that posted. That would also mean it would take approximately four hours total to download the 2.5GB file.

My 768k DSL checks out roughly as advertised. But when I downloaded Vista, I averaged 80k/s. It took about 8 hrs. I just let download overnite.

I had mine in a little over two hours. I was pulling roughly 350KB/s using the DownThemAll - Firefox extension.

Your internet provider may have a limit on the size of the dowmload you can do, call them and see.

I called them and their does not seem to be a limit, will talk further with them, but when I deleted what I downloaded before which was only 7 mb or 10 mb and also deleted the downloader, I went back to that site to download and now really confused I clicked it and it show another vista I think it was 5744? the other one was 5600, which one is the one I am suppose to download. for the most current trouble free one.

5600 is RC1 and 5744 is RC2 - the latest build released for customer preview.

The Akamai downloader from M$ is not a fundamental requirement for Vista download, it is there to help those with slower connections or related constraints.

You can try another route and see how that works, you'll need three programs.

0. CrapCleaner

1. Firefox

2. DownThemAll

Once you are done, you are done installing all three, run CrapCleaner to purge all the accumulated internet garbage collected over time. Then launch Firefox and go to the official Vista RC2 download page and you can use the DownThemAll tool within Firefox to get the file.
