Hello, I am curious if the 64bit Vista Basic is good enough for gaming and online browsing. I checked out the info on the MS site here:
Basically it looks like the basic version has all of the features except for unnecessary media features and business software that I already have. However is there anything that I do not know about basic that the site isn't telling me that differs from the other versions? Like would I try to install a program to find out it won't work with basic but a higher version? Also did they fix most of the bugs that people complained about when Vista first came out? Thanks.

XpUser - His question refers to the 64-bit version, the chart you refer to only covers the various 32-bit ones.
GreatGamer - Currently the 64-bit version is lacking support from the vendors for drivers. This includes the video and sound ones. Check the games you are currently using and see if they list 64-bit as an OS of choice. Most only list Vista, not whether it is 32 or 64 bit. Your primary concern would be whether there are drivers for your audio and video components.
What feature of 64-bit are you trying to take advantage of? The main one I see is the ability to use more than 4GB of RAM.

Hello, thanks for the reply. Mainly I just want to update to 64bit and I really do not need all of the fancy media software.

Retail Vista DVDs includes all versions for both 32-bits & 64-bits machines.
OEM Vista DVD also includes all versions but they are sold separately for 32-bits and 64-bits machines with no support.
