Appreciate advice on which comp to install Vista Upgrade Home Premium. Comp 1 is an AMD Athlon 64 3200 Processor 2.2 GigaHertz. Max allowed RAM is 2 MB (two slots) The video card is Nvidia GEForce FX 5700LE.
Comp 2 is an Intel P4 2.00 GigaHertz. Max Ram allowed is 4Gb Ram (four slots) The video card is Nvidia Geforce FX 5500.
Both comps have 2 Gb Ram at present. It is possible to move the better Video Card to final comp for the install. Both comps have passed as suitable for Vista.
Making a casual enquiry to a shop employee, he suggested because the AMD chip works in a different way to the Intel it could be better to use the AMD comp for Vista.
Other than getting more Ram in the future don't really intend upgrading anything else in the immediate future.
Which comp would be the most suitable.

If I use the AMD comp, then that, ties me to using 2Gig memory and being unable to add more memory. Have seen various references to Vista functioning better with 4 Gig memory.
Uncertain, that is the reason for the OP.
As regards continuing to use XP,the change is purely for hobby purposes and no doubt will bring all the subsequent 'JOYS' of a new Bill Gates OS. He has already got my money!!!!!!!!!. (Will still have XP on whatever comp is not VistaGated).

The first computer is far better better. Those 1.3-2.0GHz P4s really sucked.

As for the RAM thing, chances are, if you're asking about computers with processors as low as the P4 2.0, you probably won't be working with apps that actually require 4 gigs. ;)

Jackbomb's other, non-P3 rig:
AMD x2 4800 @ 2.9GHz s939
Asus Geforce 8800GTS
500GB WD sataII drive
2 gigs of PC4000 DDR1
X-Fi extreme music
Xbox USB hd-dvd for movies

the first computer with AMD cpu is alot faster than your second computer with P4 cpu.
