About a zero chance.

It might work with generic midi stuff and maybe some linux distro's may offer some support.

Appreciate your suggestions, however, I am not so savvy on what you said. I will follow the link and see what I can find. Zero Chance was not very encouraging to this granny.

The original Musicstar used a Midi to game port cable and ran on Win3.1. Does your computer have a game port?

I have the Reveal Midi cable, keyboard to computer. I am in need of the soffware only that comes with Musicstar. Several ports available on my computer. I do not know how to identify 'game port' I have Vista.

"Zero Chance" is a phrase like "when hell freezes over" or "when donkeys fly" sort of.

It is a midi device. That is a standard so if you have a midi controller card you may be able to use free software to at least make music.

Are you just trying to use the Musicstar or play serious music? If the latter there are some MIDI machines with USB interfaces and a lot better keyboard action at reasonable prices.

Just trying to use Musicstar for my own pleasure..not serious music. The unit was given to me and I thought I could just buy the software. Now I have learned that Reveal is no longer.

The lowest cost method to connect is probably a USB to MIDI Adapter. Cost $7 (amazon) to $30 (zzsounds), Software is available free.

Now we are talking. I can get an adapter. Please, where do I get the free software when I get my Musicstar hooked up to computer?
