Every few days I check to see how much free disk space I have. Its been hovering around the 120gb level for the past few months now. I've just checked again today and somehow vista reports that I have 143Gb free. How can this be? I haven't uninstalled any software or deleted any files that could account for this 20Gb. I'm as sure as I can be that I'm not infected with any malware (I regularly run Nod32, Spybot, HijackThis etc and apart from the odd tracking cookie I always show up clean). I also monitor my bandwidth usage so am pretty confident that my PC isn't part of a bot net spamming the world. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could have gained 20gb disc space seemingly overnight? I'm running vista home premium SP1 and am up-to-date with all patches. Thanks

Have you run disk cleanup and deleted all but the latest system restore points? Do you dual boot with XP which will do the same thing without asking you first? In fact XP will delete ALL the Vista system restore points.

So I use Smartdefrag from Iobit which i have no problem with , except the Yahoo tool bar , This can easily be removed by programs and features or more thoroughly with Revo Uninstaller
