CPU/Ram: Acer Quad core- Ram 3gb

I'm a gamer, pc gamer. I know Windows Vista
has an issue with older games but there must be
a way how to get past this.


I have the games Thief 1-3, got them off
Ebay, ( by the way i have vista, quad core,
3gb ram, so its all good. But...

I go to install thief 1 and remembering how
an amazing game it was, i was excited-


So i get the message - This product cannot
be installed on Windows NT due to a
Microsoft Direct x limitation.

Um... ok


First i dont have NT second i have Dx 10
so there should not be a problem.

Whats the issue? How do i get around it?

Actually you do have NT, NT=New Technology and is the bases for NT3.x, NT4, NT5 (windows2000), NT5.1 (XP) and also VISTA, in fact being based on the 1980's IBM OS/2.

Most XP compatable games were released for DX8/DX9 therefore DX10 is alien to older software.

That apart Vista does have Compatibility Mode to run older software:
