I am frustrated to no end with Vista icons, previews and live folders. It seems that all thumbnails are either on or off. Nothing in between, When I turn thumbnails off I get nothing from either the details or preview panes. I would like to have sharp looking folders and icons and still be able to see a preview in the details pane when a file is selected. Is this yet another task that Vista can't or won't handle?

Thanks the response Tufenuf.
However, these google links are mainly about adding file type support for previews and changing the previews in live folders. I was hoping there was a way to disable thumbnail previews to regain the actual icons of files and folders without disabling the previews in details/previews panes. Maybe both are forever tied to each other. It seems redundant to have a preview pane that only functions when thumbnails are already providing a preview. I'm assuming the only options are to open every image file in Windows Photo Viewer or accept the choppy format of thumbnails and live folders. Ugh.
