Hey. Just recently (and for apparently no reason) when Windows starts up, everything works find up until the normal Vista Welcome Screen should show up. Right after the Windows logo appears and the start-up sound plays, the screen goes black, and the welcome screen background appears in low resolution along with a large cursor that I can move around. No users are displayed, no buttons are displayed, nothing except the background and the cursor.
I haven't installed any new piece of hardware, and I didn't install new drivers.
I've tried several methods to fix the problem. System restore failed, repairing the start-up failed (When I tried repairing the start-up, it found no problems), and I am currently running check disk ("chkdsk /f /r") in case that might be the solution.
Check disk will likely not fix the problem, so I'm asking if anyone else has experienced this problem and if a solution exists.
Safe mode runs like it should, so I assume some program is conflicting with the start-up in some way or another.
