want to format and upgrade

my girlfriends laptop seems to have a few viruses. she just started going back to school and they provided her with vista home ultament. what do i need to do to format her hard drive so i can install the new windows.

Put the disk in, turn on the computer and when it give you a boot option at the top of the screen select cd/dvd drive, should be F12 or something to that effect and delete the drive and format and install vista over again. To be on the safe side you might want to use kill disk at the following site for it to get rid of everything that it needs to.

It shoudl have if it is a laptop it will be a OEM disc. You will have to call microsoft and activate it again. Since it is on the same computer there should be a problem.

what does OEM stand for. i don't know if she has the disks that came with the laptop orignaly.
