I am trying to get my vista laptop to connect to a xp pc. The maddening thing is i got them working at one point, now it doesn't work anymore. --They are both on the same workgroup. --Both have McAffee firewall installed, and the are both listed as trusted. (note is still doesn't work if the firewall is turned off) McAffee can see the other ip address it its network map and it show up on the same network. --Print and file sharing is turned on on both computers. --I downloaded and installed the patch to the XP computer. --User names have been created and are the same on both computers. --The laptop can access the internet. --The laptop CANNOT ping the pc. --The pc can see but cannot connect to the laptop. Like i said before when i first got the laptop i had the both connected and sharing files and a printer, but since then i have done windows update and i possibly backed off user right to standard (i can't remember i did this before or after the network setup) but i have since given admin rights back. I'm not sure what happened, but i can't figure this out... All help is appreciated.

also note the the dektop pc show up in the vista network map.
